Focus

1 First thing Steve Job has done when he returned to Apple in 1997, is cutting products, from 350 products to only 10. This action has triggered many of the employees, especially engineers who take their work seriously like their own kids. Steve Job's response to this is simple "Focus, is about saying no."

2 Two question I have been thinking about recently, first, what things would bring the most value for the world in a span of 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 100 years, 1000 years, 10,000 years? Second is what would bring me the most happiness and proud in a span of 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, 50 years?

3 Once you've figured out you should start building habits that could contribute to achieving that goal, and then you start building momentum and habits. This is the uneasy part that requires some will power, I've build my reading habit from 30 minutes to on average 6 hours a day now, it doesn't really take any effort for me to read 6 hours a day, but at first it definitely felt uncomfortable and on the first month I am pushing myself everyday.

Focus is about saying no --- Steve Jobs

1 After reading the book "The One",  I decided to throw away all my 300 books, and only allow myself to keep 7 books at a time. Doing this wasn't a easy choice for me, I feel painful just thinking of all those knowledges and stories I'd miss, but I knew it'd benefit me in long term. I also took aspiration from the Steve Jobs's cutting product lines approach when he went back to apple. I believe it will make a huge difference in how I approach reading as a form of learning.

2 At 2023, I have built my habit of reading. From about 30 minutes a day at January to 3 hours a day in march, to almost 7 hours a day on average at August . Being so proud of myself, I bought over 100 books in last month alone, as I was so fed up with the concept of reading 1 book a day, turns out having too many books is not doing me any good. I have less motivation to read as most of the time I struggle to pick which book to read, and I actually got lazier.

Type II Civilisation before 2100

Look at this image.

It's not a full black background, somewhere in this picture that is a white dot.

And that little white dot contains everything you ever cared about,

it is the the view of planet earth from far away space.

I want you to think about this, someday we will lit up all those darkness.

The question is how do we achieve that?

Is AI going to take your job

1 If you're passionate about your job and constantly try to do a better job, not only AI is not going to take your job, it will even make you better at it. However, it will definitely change the content of your job, most of the boring, repetition works will be gone, so what's left would be mostly thinking, intense thinking. Your need to learn to observe and think, if you can learn to observe and think, you will do a very good job.

2  I'm specially worried about the future teenagers who will grow up used to having short attention span, their potential would be hindered by not being able to focus. What I recommend is actives like reading books, drawing, gardening, even organising your room. These actives train your brain to learn how to observe and think about something new.

The Great Choice

In the past we have thought of internet as a liberator that will destroy most of the chains imposed on a man, while some of those still remain true, we are seeing another trend emerging, the liberator might turn out to be the mightiest oppressor we ever had.

Those problems the internet promised to solve, they never came true. We asked for facts, we got opinions. We asked for connections, we got comparisons. Now, tech giants are now using the newest technologies to build the ultimate cell, the material of that cell will be their understanding of us, and we are the ones that volunteered the material.

So it's indeed a time for choosing, 1000 days later it'd be already too late, by that point they'll understand us better than we ourselves do, and we would be spiritually weakened to a point we refuse to make a change. Whatever happen in this 10,000 days will set the tone for the age of AI.

Peace in our time

1 The art of human civilisation is the art of living together. This is my firm believe, and let me explain.

2 In the past people throw stones at each other because they want more resources to survive, they didn't wanted to but they have to or else they die. Fast forward to modern age, why are we still doing this? We discovered that we can expand outward into the space, and there might indeed a path to alchemy, or unlimited energy or resources. The art of conquering or war is no longer relevant, as putting more people under your control does not contribute to any actual benefits anymore.

3 So I say how about lets just dive into space and dig our golds? Some say this idea is naive and has complete no understanding of geopolitics or dynamics between countries. I say those people are losers who don't understand possibilities.

The age of China

1 Recently, I have been looking at different sectors of the world that I believe will become super important in the future, and China basically dominates all these sectors. For example, China is predicted to contribute to half the growth in the solar energy industry for the next 10 years.

2 Yes, China has large population, but that's still less than 1/5 of the total population on Earth. What caused China's growth is largely based on excellent observation, excellent planning and excellent execution. It is a shame to see the west is wasting their potential to contribute to planet earth by just spending 80% of the effort discuss which is the perfect ideology, instead of making action.

Artificial intelligence - the way to go

1 The way to go is simple, create artificial intelligence only, and do not create artificial wills.

2 Intelligence is an analysing toolset to achieve goals, but without self-will there is no self-goal at all. Thus will not set to destroy us.

3 Divide artificial intelligence into three parts, one is the thinker: using existing data to perform intellectual work. The other is the doer, acting according to the plan.

4 Both need to ask permission from humans before taking any new thinking, learning, planning or action. You don't need permission to do things you've done in the past (unless it's starting a war or something).

5 The thinking process will be converted into text and displayed on the screen, and all records will be kept. Although it is impossible to translate all thoughts and thought processes into words, it will be more than enough to capture a grand plan to destroy human beings and other actions that require careful preparation.

6 Perhaps the Internet is the best framework for artificial intelligence. After years of development, the Internet has formed an obvious framework, which was not pre-designed by Google or any organisation. First of all, the Internet has many websites, and the websites are mainly divided into information or specific tools. Websites are scattered in the ocean of the Internet, and search engines such as Google are responsible for serving as intermediaries to give results based on people's searches.
